TWO GOLD, THREE SILVER AND TWENTY-THREE BRONZE MEDALS Recently sixty six students from Year 7 and Year 8 took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge set by the UK Mathematics Trust. Students sat the exam on Thursday 26 Coursework for phd Millfield School and had one hour to sit the paper of twenty five questions. However, each incorrect answer to questions 16-20 lost 1 mark and each incorrect answer to questions 21-25 lost 2 marks.
Year 13 Leavers Assembly On Friday 22nd June we held a Leavers celebration for our Year 13’s. The hall looked amazing, complete with black and gold themed decorations, a stage, a red carpet and a fun photo booth! The Celebration began with a very moving video, reminding everyone of the many good times the Year 13’s have had over their 7 Years at ECS. To lift the mood, we then had an Oscars style award ceremony, presented by Cobby and Jamilie. Year 8 and Year 9 Trip to Make the Future London at Queen Elizabeth Park On Friday 6th July Year 8 and Year 9 GCSE students visited Shell’s Make the Future London event at Queen Elizabeth park in Stratford to discover Shell’s future innovations in Science and Technology coming to us in the near future. This four-day festival was a valuable experience for Design students to get a rare glimpse into the future of our cities, our energy and the lives we will be living soon. The summer is marching on and we have finished the Summer Public Exams for another year.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS FESTIVAL 2018 The annual festival was a chance to showcase the work of the talented students in the Expressive Arts Faculty. 11 year olds, and gives children the chance to participate in hands-on Science through enquiry-based learning. Lost Property Several items of lost property have been handed into both school offices. Any items not claimed will be recycled. It would assist the school office greatly in returning items handed in if they were appropriately labelled. Thank you for your co-operation at all times.
La Boheme Tuesday 19th June On Tuesday 19th June 2018, we attended a performance of La Boheme at the Royal Opera House. Thirty one students from Years 7-10 travelled into London with Miss Marshall, Mrs Jimenez and Mrs Vestberg-Thomas to visit the beautiful venue to see one of Puccini’s most well-known Operas. The students were amazed by the vocals, acting and clever set design. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LAMB FESTIVAL WINNERS 2018 The Lamb Festival final was on Friday 22nd June when the winners of the Photography and Poetry competitions were announced. 6 to 18 years old and is in education, Cygnet is a free course available to you!
Measles in Enfield A number of cases of measles have recently been confirmed in North East and North Central London including Enfield. The annual Lamb Festival is currently being held at All Saints Church in Edmonton. Every year as part of this they have a Photography and Poetry competition. I am pleased to say that Edmonton County students and a teacher, Ms Lipparelli, have been shortlisted for the Photography competition and the Poetry competition final. Sunday 29th April a group of Year 9 students did their Duke of Edinburgh training weekend.
It involved pitching a tent, camping outside for 2 nights, cooking their food without the luxuries of a kitchen and doing a 3 hour hike on the Saturday and a 6 hour hike on the Sunday. Meningitis on the morning of 11th June for Cambridge students and 14th June for Bury students. Consent forms have been given to all Year 10 students. Please return completed, signed consent forms to the school office as soon as possible by 25th June, regardless of whether or not you wish your child to have the vaccine. Over a 4 day intensive course they worked closely with the Fire Service to learn the job of a real firefighter, including using ladders, breathing apparatus equipment, and learning casualty rescue techniques. YEAR 10 STUDENTS VISIT TURKISH THEATRE FESTIVAL Year 10 Turkish students attended the first day of the Turkish Theatre Festival which began on the 27th April at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton.
The students had the opportunity to meet the theatre production staff and actors. During the first part of the visit they attended a workshop provided by Kemal Başar, a famous actor from Turkey. II The History Department and Sixth Form organised for four A-level History students to visit Auschwitz. The four students and Mr Stuart-Smith travelled with hundreds of other Sixth Form students from across North London to Southern Poland with the Holocaust Educational Trust.
